How’s about this for a top competition!
Defected Records have announced a new competition for House music producers which includes a top prize of:
1ST PRIZE
- Your track released on Defected Records
- Your track mixed by The Shapeshifters
- Pacemaker
- Native Instruments Audio 4 DJ
- $250 Beatport credit
The only bit I don’t link about this comp is this:
“You’ll have 6 weeks to submit your track and encourage as many of your friends to rate your track as possible, after which the top 10 tracks will go through to Phase 2 of the competition which will be purely voted on by members of the public. The higher the rating of your track and the more people who vote for it, the more likely your track will make it to the final stage.”
I think that Phase 1 is a bit shitty really. If you have less friends than someone else who’s posted a track yours is unlikely to get picked even if it’s 50 times better. I can see a lot of spamming going on by peeps to get their track near the top. It’ll be funny if they end up with ten trance tracks 
If Traxsource can run a DJ comp properly (by listening to all the mixes) then so should Defected.

Hi, I would just like to outline the first section of the competition as you seem to have misunderstood:
We would like to clarify that the live top 10 featured on this site is merely an indication of users opinions and tastes. All tracks entered in the competition will be listened to by our A&R team and our favourite 10 will make it through to phase 2 of the competition. Any spam accounts set up to ensure your tracks remains in the top 10 are a waste of time.
